Old Home Week August 16 1946

These pictures were taken on August 16, 1946 by Ivan Clark.

This is a great picture taken the day before I was born. The ride just below the Fun On The Farm exhibit is The Catapillar, it moved down to the lower entrance when i was old enough to go.
The Rollo Planes are also here and the one next to it looks like the Merry Go Round not completed.


The pictures were taken from the Ferris Wheel





In this picture you can see people on The Swings and a great view of The Sideshows.
I hope someone can recognize who the people are in these pictures.

V.M. Hudson & Son

I got this from Harry Mellish today, Harry was married to Vic & Ruby's daughter , Annie Hudson.
The store was located next to Barry's Snackbar. I have more to say about it on the other Blog.



This is a picture of Vic Hudson as a young man.
I think it was taken behind the store in Parkdale.
Maybe Hope can comment on it.

1962 Graduation

I read in this mornings paper Allison West passed away.
Mr West was a Trustee when the New School was built.
Here is a picture of him presenting a certifacte to Richard Baldwin at the Grade Ten Graduation banquet.
This is taken at the old Women's Institute Hall on first Street, probably June 1962.

Next to Mr West is "Chief" , don't know the person on the end.

"The priest (sitting) sure looks like Fr. Edmund Roche."

Carlye gave me this picture. It is his Father Wilf in his garage 13 Spring Lane.
The photo is Feb. 1947.
The calender on the right is from Lawlor's Auto Salvage, this was located close to Griff's Diner.
The other calender is from Tanton's .

The Thirty Six

Earle Macdonald sent this picture, it is taken from his yard, Winston Mackay lived here in the 1950's. The photo is 1971, the 36 still had alot of water in it but it's days were numbered.

1962 YEARBOOK

This Yearbook cover was drawn by John & Max Martin. They lived at #5 Idlewheels Trailer Park in Parkdale. John was killed in 1965.

This next picture only includes students who did not have to write the Entrance Exams. These dreadfull exams were mandatory for grade 10 students who did not have a 70% average. If you failed Entrance you could not graduate Grade 10. There are a few of us missing from the photo.
